Dear Food Service Professional:
Thank you for visiting the American Academy of Food Safety website! My staff and I offer classes in manager certification so that you may work in the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois. Manager certification is available both online in English and Spanish and in the classroom in English only. It is not currently available in Chinese. AAFS also offers the Summer Festival Food Vendor Sanitation Seminar in English and Spanish, for those wishing to work at outdoor events.
For 2020 class dates, times and costs, simply click on the appropriate button below. Please note that AAFS offers Food Handler certification privately and only for groups of 25 or larger. Write to info@aafoodsafety.com for additional information.
Please Note The Following:
- In 2018, the City of Chicago increased its Foodservice Sanitation Manager Certificate fee from $35 to $45. Because of this change, the cost of the AAFS manager courses has gone up as well. New prices have been in effect since June 2018 and continue throughout 2020.
- Since 2018, the City of Chicago and State of Illinois began requiring current and newly certified food service sanitation managers to complete food allergen awareness training. This training course must be ANSI/CFP accredited and may be taken online. Allergen awareness course completion is good for three (3) years and certificates must be kept at the food establishment for the health department inspector.
- The State of Illinois does not require a separate managers certificate to work in the City of Chicago.
- Additional information regarding new and changing food safety requirements is available by clicking the link below; please read it carefully. FOOD SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
